Help: Definitions and Instructions

What is social bookmarking?

Social bookmarking is the practice of saving bookmarks on the Internet. This is a social bookmarking website, which means you can store and share bookmarks on this site. Because these bookmarks are stored on the Internet (instead of only in your web browser) you can access your bookmarks from any computer and you can easily share your bookmarks with others. You can also search what other people are bookmarking to find useful or entertaining resources. Bookmarks are Internet links that can be assigned relevant "tags" (keywords) by the user.

What are tags?

Tags are words that are used to describe your bookmarks. Tags are used like keywords and you can assign as many tags to a bookmark as you want. When creating a bookmark each word entered in the "tag box" will be its own tag, so if you enter multiple words then each word will become an individual tag for that bookmark, which is the most beneficial. Do not place a comma (,) or a period (.) after or between tags!

How do I get started?

You don't need to have an account to explore what other people have bookmarked. Just click the Popular or Recent links to see what other people are bookmarking. You can also use the search box for targeted (keyword) searches.

To save bookmarks on this site you will need to register for a free account. This is a quick and easy process because you are only required to enter a username, password and your email address. Click the Register link to get started now!

Please Note: We will not send you your username and password so you should write them down and keep them in case you forget them.

How do I post bookmarks?

Register for a free account, login to your account and click on the Post link and enter the information for your bookmark.

How do I share my bookmarks?

Login to your account and you will be at "Your Bookmarks" page, then just share the URL of that page with others. You can use the "Email a Friend" link to send the URL (of any page you are at) to your friends. You can also click any of the images (near the upper right side of the page) that link to other social bookmarking sites to tag (post) "Your Bookmarks" page from this website to those sites.

How do I delete or edit my bookmarks?

Login to your account and then you will see an Edit and Delete link next to the bookmarks on "Your Bookmarks" page.

Your tag list

All of the tags that you have used for your bookmarks are listed on the right side of "Your Bookmarks" page. You can click a tag to view all the bookmarks that have been tagged with it.

At the bottom of your tag list, you have several options:
The cloud view arranges all tags without new lines after each tag, and makes tags bigger or smaller depending on how many times they've been used. The list view has one line for each tag and includes a count of how many times that tag has been used. The "sort by" option arranges your list of tags by frequency (freq) with the most frequently-used tags at the top of the list, or in alphabetical (alpha) order.

RSS feeds

Do you want an RSS feed of your bookmarks? There is a small orange image/button that says RSS near the upper right side of most pages on this site, including "Your Bookmarks" page, so you can click that RSS button to grab the page's RSS web address to put in your RSS reader, or you can submit/use it for your own search engine optimization purposes.
